The jury is still out on new FIFA President Gianni Infantino...and I am the judge. Is he a reformer or in the mold or moldy of previous Presidents?. He has been very quiet the last couple of weeks.  He did bring in many previous stars to Russia 2018 with free first class flights, five star hotels, VIP passes and meals and drinks flowing, in order to curry favour.

Diego Armando Maradona had a much better deal from Infantino. $10,000 A DAY,  or is it Swiss francs or Euros? plus VIP treatment for his sorry pals. He played the fool in this Pythonesque display. No silly walks or dead parrots, just the Diego Falling All Over Sketch.

His behaviour has been deplorable as he watched his beloved Argentina play. Against Nigeria instead of 'The Hand of God' he gave' Two Fingers of the Devi'l to the African fans sitting below him. The coke fuelled fomer star fell asleep or passed out, was aided by two Russian medics and helped from his seat. At 1.30 am he left St. Petersburg for Moscowi in a private jet. He should have his accreditation withdrawn and sent home, like he was from USA 94.

We had an exiting match and when referee Cuneyt Cakir from Istanbul gave the green clad Nigerians a penalty after Mascherado wrapped himself around Leon Balugan, after the usual protests Victor Moses calmlly made it 1-1 from the spot, If it had ended that way the Argies would have gone home. It was not to be as a late Rojo volley made it 2-1 near the end.  Mess, finally played like Messi, had opened the scoring. Great excitement. The unloved coach Jorge Sampoeli made straight for the tunnel after the final whistle.

On the other hand we had the bore draw Denmark v France with both teams advancing to the Round of Sixteen. There were boos and jeers in the stadium ( well, so I am told).  I fell asleep and didn't wake up until 10 minutes from the bitter end.  We have had 36 matches with one or more goals until this 0-0 snoozer. One hundred and ten years ago the two teams met in London at the Olympic Games where Denmark won 17-1 against the French in the semi-final at White City stadium in front of 1,000 fans.. Great Britain beat Denmark 2-0 in the final

Referee Cuneyt Cakir from Istanbul was totally in charge. The 41 year old may get the coveted final in the Luzhniki since Turkey are not here. He has been brilliant for many years and he refereed the 2015 Champions League final
