With Bayern Munich running away with the Bundesliga-yet again-and 20 points clear of Schalke 04,- more excitement might be on who will stay up in the 18 team division.

Monday night at the Opel Arena   the home team Mainz 05 and visitors SC Freiburg from 3 hours south walked off the pitch and up the tunnel ready for a half time team talk and drink. Surprise, because in the meantime referee Guido Winkman had been contacted over his headphone by a VAR assistant a long way away in Koln, asking him to reviewthe sideline screen and give a penalty to the home team for a hand ball in the penalty area just before the whistle for the break.

He brought both teams back and after 45 plus 7,  Pablo de Blasis made it 1-0 from the spot, and then the teams went back to complete their break.."It leaves a bitter taste". complained Freiburg sporting director Jochen Saier. During the break the sprinklers came on to add to the occasion !!   Immediately after the players returned for 45 more minutes the home fans delayed the start by throwing hundreds of toilet rolls over the fence and onto the pitch.

They were protesting Monday Night Fussball which is very unpopular in The Bundesliga, and difficult for away fans to attend.. WE DESERVE BETTER said a huge banner. The match finished 2-0 with de Blassis scoring again in the 79th minute.  The two teams switched places in 15th and 16th place in the table. Both clubs are on 30 points above Hamburg SV on 22 and 1 FC Koln on 21 at the bottom. I have supported Freiburg for many hears, following their 32 year old captain Julian Schuster since watching him as an 11 year old standout for local club FV Lochgau in Baden-Wurttemberg in 1996.

Yet again Russian fans at the new St Petersburg Arena  have been cited by FIFA for racism after monkey chants from during Russia's 3-1 home defeat by France, with Paul Pogba of Man Utd and Ousmane Dembele of Barca on the receiving end. Its the third such incident there. Many Russia 2018 matches are scheduled at the arena including a semi-final.

Trouble in Glasgow. Celtic are running away with the Scottish league title for the seventh season in a row, and on Sunday demolished Rangers 4-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-final. After an post match bust up with manager Graeme Murty in the Light Blues locker room at Hampden Park Lee Wallace and Kenny Miller have been hauled in front of the front office and suspended for the rest of the season.

FIFA referee Michael Oliver, who awarded a penalty in the 93rd minute and sent off Gianliugi Buffon in the Real Madrid v Juventus 2nd leg Champions league quarter final has had a horrible time , along with his wife Lucy, an FAWSL referee whose cell number was posted on social media. " A bag of rubbish for a heart" claimed the Italian keeper. He later said that he had not changed his mind. Lucy had her twitter account attacker and people knocked at their front door. Northumbria police siad that there might be criminal charges ahead.

In Italy  a twitter hashtag   italialovesmichaeloliver has had over 6,000 tweets in 24 hours. I believe that Buffon should pay for FULL PAGE advs in Gazzetto dello Sport in Italy, Marca in Spain and maybe the Daily Mail in UK offering an apology.  33 year old Oliver was the 4th official at Huddrrsfield Town v Watford at the weekend and in the middle for West Ham Utd v Stoke City on Monday evening at The London Stadium..
