Title: MEN IN PINK

Blog:

November 11th, 2016 at Wembley Stadium The Three Lions will host Scotland in a quest for a place at FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.. (if the Ruskies have not invdaded the West by then). England lead the Group  F with 7 points and the Scots have 4.

In their wisdom the Lords of Zurich have declared that Scotland, who normally play in navy blue, must change to their 'away' strip of pink jerseys because the referee might not be able to tell the difference between the white jerseys of England who have light blue sleeves. Well who will be the blind referee? You would think that there isn't a clash at all, or that the Scots, like most national teams. only use the same uniform once, with the name of the opposition printed below the badge, could have complained, that England could have an all white jersey or that MEN IN PINK is ridiculous and found another colour. .

Scotland have played in some ridiculous strips before, but not often, Primose and yellow hoops, the racing colours of Archibold Primrose, the 5th Earl of Rosebery in 1881, and a year later blue and white hoops borrowed from Edinburgh Academicals rugby club. The first ever international match was Scotland v England on 5th March 1872 at Hamilton Crescent in Partick near Glasgow, and home of the West of Scotland Cricket Club. 0-0. Since all the Scottish players were from Queens Park club they played in their then club colours of navy blue. Players had to provide their own knickers, usually white. The England team were selected from 9 clubs and the players wore their own club stockings.

FIFA have also banned the red poppy from both teams' jerseys stating that its too 'political' . November 11th is Armistice Day, commemorating the anniversary of the 11th hour of the 11th day in 1918 when the guns stopped firing to end World War l. ' 'IN FLANDERS FIELDS' was a poem about how the poppies sttill grew during the battlles near YPRES, Flanders during that Great War. Since then poppies have been sold on behalf of the Royal British Legion to assist former comrades..

Congratulations to my friends at KONGSVINGER www.kil.no,. who will play the mighty Rosenborg BK from Trondheim in their first ever Norwegian Cup final at Ullevaal Stadium on 20th November.
