Title: BAVARIAN BALLET

Blog:

What a pleasure Saturday afternoon at a standing room only Allianz Arena as FC Bayern ran riot in an awesome display of TIKI TAKI fussball Bavarian style: 6-1 against visiting Werder Bremen.

It was an Oscar winning performance and with an 18 point lead at the top of the Bundesliga, FC Hollywood look unstoppable. AND THE TROPHY GOES TO.......No bets on who will win.

I was lucky enough to be a guest of the club in Section 101: Row 2: Seat 25 for an up-close view of the Bavarian Ballet. Right in front of me the French wizard  Franck Ribery was as fast and elusive as greased lightning, balanced on the far wing by Dutch ace Arjen Robben. The whole team from Manuel Nueur in goal and captain Philipp Lamm switch from defence to attack at speed and coordination.

It had  been a day of fussball in Munich. First to FC Bayern headquarters on Sabenerstrasse to meet my old friend Juegen Jung, a former youth player there who became youth director at TSV 1860 Müenchen and is now back scouting for FC Bayern. We watched a Bundesliga u17 match between FCB and Waldorf Mannheim which the home team narrowly won 1-0. Then 3 blocks to the campus of TSV 1860 Munich on Grünwalder Strasse to meet head coach of the Bundesliga 2 team Alexander Schmidt who were leaving on a bus to the airport with the team for a Sunday Bundesliga 2 fixture, but spent time with us watching his 11 year old son Francesco Scmidt play in a 9 v 9 match for 1860 u11s against Deggendorf u12's.

Then it was off to Allianz Arena from Marienplatz on U8 for the Bundesliga Match of the Day. After 30 minutes the contest was over. First Arjen Robben  in 25 mins and Javi Martinez 4 minites later shocked the green shirted visitor,s who had Sebastian Prodle red carded just before half time.

The second half was a disaster for Bremen, started with an own goal by Theodor Gebre followed by Mario Gomez, so 4-0 by 51 minutes.  Kevin De Bruyne made it 4-1 before Franck Ribery struck in the 86th minute and Mario Gomez made it 6-1 final score in the 89th minute. Possession? 74% for Bayern-26% for Bremen.

Sunday at Salzburg Arena for Austrian Bundesliga: Red Bull Salzburg 3 v Rapid Wien 3. FREE entry for young kids plus a free programme, free Red Bull flag on every seat and a free noisemaker. Lots of noise, lots of goal, lots of un in the freezing weather. brrrrrr.
